Top Ten Films: 2014 – The Quote Game

Here it is, my annual top ten list. As before, I list a quote, you guess the movie. Enjoy!

A quick note: I still have not seen A Most Violent Year, American Sniper, Leviathan, Mr. Turner, Big Hero 6, Two Days One Night, Winter Sleep, and this list will probably be different once I see them all. But it’s already the second week of January and so here’s my list as it stands right now!

As always, I list a quote, you guess the movie.

10) It is unacceptable that they use their power to keep us voiceless. As long as I am unable to use my constitutional right to vote, I do not have command of my own life. I cannot determine my own destiny. For it is determined for me by people who would rather see me suffer than succeed. Those that have gone before us say, ‘No more! No more!’ That means protest. That means march. That means disturb the peace. That means jail. That means risk. And that is hard. We will not wait any longer. Give us the vote. We’re not asking. We’re demanding. Give us the vote!

9) Would you wear a shoe on your head? Of course you wouldn’t wear a shoe on your head. A shoe doesn’t belong on your head. A shoe belongs on your foot. A hat belongs on your head. I am a hat. You are a shoe. I belong on the head. You belong on the foot.

8) I coulda been married with diabetes by now!

7) God knows that dam wants to come down.

6) Today is my birthday. And it’s a special one because you once told me that when you came back, we might be the same age. Well, now I’m the same age that you were when you left… and it’d be really great if you came back soon.

5) Come find me when you wake up.

4) I killed for you. Who else can say that?

3) That means something to who? You had a career, dad, before the third comic book movie, before people started to forget who was inside that bird costume. You are doing a play based on a book that was written sixty years ago for a thousand rich old white people whose only real concern is going to be where they have their cake and coffee when it’s over. Nobody gives a shit but you! And let’s face it, dad, you are not doing this for the sake of art. You are doing this because you want to feel relevant again. Well guess what? There is an entire world out there where people fight to be relevant every single day and you act like it doesn’t exist. Things are happening in a place that you ignore, a place that, by the way, has already forgotten about you. I mean, who the fuck are you? You hate bloggers. You mock Twitter. You don’t even have a Facebook page. You’re the one who doesn’t exist. You’re doing this because you’re scared to death, like the rest of us, that you don’t matter and, you know what, you’re right. You don’t! It’s not important, okay? You’re not important! Get used to it.

2) Turn my pages, bitch!

1) There is a sunrise and a sunset every day and you can choose to be there for it. You can put yourself in the way of beauty.
